Who built this
I'm Rehan — Muhammad Rehan Qadri, based in Dubai. I'm a software engineer, not a marketer: eight-plus years building production systems, including a production migration of a live food-delivery platform's backend without stopping the business, a US e-commerce platform built end-to-end on AWS, and the technical lead role on a proof-of-concept ordering system for Dubai Police across iOS, Android and web.
- 8+ years as a full-stack engineer — Node.js and Nest.js backends, React and Next.js frontends, AWS serverless infrastructure
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- Top 3% of Stack Overflow contributors
- Led a production Adonis.js-to-Nest.js migration of a live food-delivery platform, without stopping the business
- Built a US e-commerce platform end-to-end on AWS
- Led the team on a proof-of-concept ordering system for Dubai Police, across iOS, Android and web
I operate TheAccounts.ai under Vectosol, the software engineering practice I run. There is no separate company behind the logo — the person who wrote the code is the person who answers support.
Licensed accounting expertise, not just engineering
An engineer can write software. Getting UAE VAT and Corporate Tax logic right takes people who work with these rules every day. TheAccounts.ai is built in partnership with SM & Co Chartered Accountants FZC-LLC, a licensed UAE chartered accountancy firm based in Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone. Their licence covers accounting, bookkeeping and auditing activities, and tax consultancy.
That partnership means real, practising accountants stand behind how this product approaches UAE VAT and Corporate Tax — not only an engineer's reading of the legislation. It does not make TheAccounts.ai a substitute for your own accountant or tax agent, and it is not a certification or audit of the software; it is who we built this with.
Why an engineer built an accounting product
UAE Corporate Tax is 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000, and the first filing deadline for the 2025 financial year lands on 30 September 2026. E-invoicing is being phased in over the years that follow. Most UAE small businesses are running their books on a spreadsheet, a global tool with no UAE tax logic and no Arabic, or an accounting suite priced and built for a finance department they don't have.
Receipt capture, double-entry bookkeeping, and VAT and Corporate Tax posting rules are the kind of problem I know how to build well. TheAccounts.ai reads receipts automatically, keeps the ledger updated as you go, and fills in the VAT and Corporate Tax fields the mandate requires — in English and Arabic, with full right-to-left support, priced for a business with one bookkeeper or none.
What TheAccounts.ai does
AI receipt and invoice scanning
Photograph or upload a receipt and the vendor, date, amount, and VAT are extracted automatically, powered by the Claude API.
Double-entry ledger
Every transaction posts as a balanced journal entry to a real general ledger, not a simplified income/expense list.
5% VAT and 9% Corporate Tax, built in
VAT and Corporate Tax fields post automatically as transactions are entered, with the Small Business Relief threshold applied.
Bank reconciliation
Match bank activity against invoices and expenses without a spreadsheet on the side.
English and Arabic, with full RTL
A genuinely bilingual interface, not a translated overlay, including right-to-left layout.
TRN validation and 100+ currencies
Tax Registration Numbers are validated on entry, with multi-currency support for businesses that bill outside the UAE.
Where things stand today
TheAccounts.ai is early. There is no support queue and no offshore team reading your bank statements — there's me, working with SM & Co on the accounting side. Being direct about that, both ways:
- What that buys you: if something breaks or looks wrong, you're emailing the person who wrote the code, not a first-line agent reading from a script.
- What it doesn't buy you: TheAccounts.ai is bookkeeping and filing-preparation software, not tax advice, and I'm not a chartered accountant. For anything that turns on judgement — a filing position, a disputed VAT treatment — talk to your accountant or tax agent, or to SM & Co. The product is built to make that conversation easier, not to replace it.
- Where it stands: this is a new product without a long list of customers yet. If you're one of the first, say so when you get in touch — I read every signup and every support email myself.
The Vectosol connection
Vectosol is the software engineering practice I run in Dubai. TheAccounts.ai is a product built inside Vectosol, not a separate anonymous company. If you want to see the engineering work behind the name: vectosol.com.
